I saw this movie last week and rented it without completely knowing what it was about. The beginning puzzled me a bit because I hadn't set my frame of mind to the 16/1700's type of dialect...and it's risque...which was the root of an awkward moment because my mom decided to watch this movie with me....*awkward*
After I accepted the time and the fact it's more of a biography than anything else, I thought it was an excellent movie.
Granted I knew a bit about the man before I saw the movie, but I recommend this movie to anyone who is willing to keep an open mind. It's really an awesome movie, emphasis on 'awe'.
Johnny's character develops leporasy and by the end of the movie, you are in love with his character where as in the beginning, you kind of dispise him...
And who doesn't love a man who loves the theatre and who doesn't like the type of plot where your real love is found a little too late in life...
Wonderful...love it, and I hope to own it...soon.

I have to go against the crowd, I really didn't like, this is one of the few movies, of Johnny I didn't like, the other one was Blow. The only thing I liked was Johnny other than that, I wouldn't waste my money on it.

I actually love this movie. I think it is really beautiful and moving. I want to read more of Rochester's stuff. I found it very interesing that Rochester from the classic Jane Eyre is named after Earl of Rochester. I have to admit I think this is one of Depp's most powerful pieces. I think he delivered the lines with the beauty and power intended and not the smut.

I really loved this movie. One because it taught me about some one I had never known about before. Two because Johnny did an amazing job acting. Another movie where you were supposed to hate his character and I ended up loving him. In the end most of his scenes really touched me and almost had me in tears. One of his best work.
Raiting: 4 out of 5 stars
